Sasha turned 23 on December 31st. She graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on May 1st with a BA in political science. Her boyfriend, Jason Rukavina, also graduated with a Masters in Public Health. 

Mauricio’s mom, Renalva, traveled from Brazil, all by herself, to attend Sasha’s graduation at Michigan Stadium.  There was a lot of rain before the ceremony and Lucia, Renalva, and Mauricio were soaking wet.

Barack Obama gave the commencement address and about 80 thousand people attended the ceremony.

Sasha arrives back in New Jersey after graduationSasha cheers on Brazil during 2010 FIFA World CupAfter saying goodbye to Ann Arbor and vacationing with her family in Rio, Sasha started looking for a job in New York City. In August she started working at Teach for America headquarters in Manhattan. While she did not have a room of her own, Sasha stayed at Marina Roesler's apartment in New York City.  In September, Sasha rented a room of her own in Brooklyn, about 30 minutes by subway from work and five minutes walking from Jason’s apartment. Her apartment is about an hour by car from her parents' home in Holmdel.
