ABSTRACT
The aerospace industry is a source of a large number of challenging problems, and optimization plays a significant role in the solution of many of these. In this article, we discuss how optimization is used in aerodynamic design of aircraft wings, data association for multitarget tracking, and trajectory optimization. These three examples give a sample of application areas and uses of optimization in the aerospace industry.
