Ram Ramakrishnan died suddenly on March 15, 2013 at the age of 64. At the time of his death, Ram lived in Nashua, NH.  Born April 12, 1948 in Chennai, India, Ram is survived by his mother, two brothers and other family members.

Ram graduated from IIT Kanpur with a Bachelors' degree in EE followed by a PhD in EECS from the University of Washington in Seattle.

Ram had a long and productive career at the Mathematical Sciences Research Center at Bell Labs for over 25 years. His accomplishments include groundbreaking work on Performance Analysis, Combinatorial Optimization, and Packet Network Analysis and Design.

Ram joined Winphoria in 2000 and was instrumental in the rigorous traffic, reliability/ fault tolerance analysis of the Softswitch including designing sophisticated Admission Control algorithms. Ram joined Veveo in 2005 and was responsible for much of the formal mathematical underpinnings of Veveo's technology including the Social Network Analysis, Signature and Personalization algorithms.

Ram authored 41 US patents and many academic publications.

Ram was a wonderful humanitarian, whose profound intellectual influence and endearing empathy will be missed but never forgotten.

Memorial service was held on Thursday, March 28, at Linwood Cemetery and Crematorium, in Haverhill, MA. Religious services and cremation for the family followed.
