Artificial Neural Networks in Optimization and Applications

Theodore B. Trafalis and Suat Kasap

ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) for optimization problems. Connections with statistical physics are examined with an extensive description of mean field equations. Several energy functions are investigated. Applications to image processing and learning are also presented.
